Exams

Comprehensive Eye Exams

When you visit Opik Eyewear your medical and eyecare history will be gathered.  Then, we will assess your eyes and indicate their physical overall health.  Getting a yearly eye exam is recommended to keep your eyes protected from early stages of eye disease.

Pediatric Eye Exams

Lots of times children’s vision problems go unnoticed and can interfere with learning development.  That is why it’s important to have a yearly eye exam. Our Optometrist will perform a detailed health evaluation that includes binocularity, refractive errors, color vision, and vision acuity, to determine their overall health using age-appropriate instruments and testing procedures so your little one feels comfortable and secure during their visit.

Diabetic Eye Exams

Diabetes elevates blood sugar levels and can increase your risk for eye problems including blurry vision, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.  Our Optometrist will perform an eye exam and look for changes in the blood vessels of the retina that may indicate diabetic retinopathy.

Contact Lens Exams

If you are thinking about wearing contacts, you need an eye exam.  Our Optometrist will perform special testing to evaluate your vision and measure your eyes surface to determine what size and type of contacts are best for you.

Dry Eye Exams

Dry eyes are very common and can be caused by lifestyle or the environment.  Some of the symptoms may include irritated eyes, red eyes, tearing, and watery eyes.  During our eye exam we will address what is the cause of your dry eye, give you advice, and discuss treatment options.

Glaucoma Testing

Glaucoma is a disease which damages the optic nerve and associated with intra-ocular pressure.  Our Optometrist will perform a Glaucoma test and discuss treatment options with you to prevent significant vision loss

Macular Degeneration Testing

Macular degeneration is an eye disease that affects the macula, the back part of the retina that controls central vision and is the top cause of vision loss in people over 50. To check for macular degeneration, our Optometrist will perform an eye exam to look at the structure of the eye.  Once the test is complete a diagnosis will be made and treatment options discussed.

Cataract Evaluation

Cataracts is an ocular condition where there is clouding of the eye lens.  It develops slowly and causes blurry vision.   A cataract evaluation determines your eyes health and identifies the severity and position of cataracts that may affect your vision.  After the initial evaluations additional steps will be discussed to improve your vision.

Fittings

Do your contact lenses and frames fit right?  At Optik Eyewear our staff is trained to check the precise fit of your eyeglass lenses and contact lenses to make sure you get the best possible results.  We will determine the best fitting lenses such as bifocal contact lenses and progressive lenses based on your lifestyle needs and health of your eyes.
